Keeping the winners spirit ahead, our 3rd Grader, Rachit Sharma stood victorious, and bagged the coveted gold medal in Primary School games at District level and further made it to State level and won Bronze. Not only this, a girl student Manroop Kaur of ours from grade VII, breaking the cultural taboo that girls cannot play male sports, won Silver in Dragon-Boat National Championship held in Sultanpur Lodhi. So not only academics, physical education and sports viz, horse riding, lawn-tennis, table tennis, football, basketball, badminton, roller skating, golf, table soccer, taekwondo, shooting, air hockey, handball kick boxing, and games like cricket are of paramount importance at DIS for the wellness of children, in addition to helping them in developing many life skills. School’s collaboration with Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy, Shankar Mahadevan Music Academy, and National Basketball Association (NBA) are such examples that are regarded as the launch-pad for students’ career in such fields. We have organized various workshops like, NBA(National Basketball Association),Basketball Workshop and La Liga Football Workshop for our students. Mr.Sunil Dutti felicitated the newly elected school council with badges and sashes of honour. The newly elected School Head Boy, KanwartejSingh, HeadGirl,GurleenKaur,T he four House Captains- Vardaan Verma of Teresa House, Manya Goenka of Ranjit House, Nimratpal Kaur of Akbar House and Krishna Bhatia of Ashoka House took oath after their felicitation to keep the honor of the institution and to preserve its sanctity. Beyond Imagination-Subject Culmination Programme We always try to play an active role in the holistic growth of our students. We organised a Subject Culmination program in 2019-20 wherein Doonians of grades I to VII exhibited their expertise in various subjects and also demonstrated their sports skills they are learning in school itself.Different Subject Stalls such as, English, Hindi, Punjabi, Math, Science, Social-Science, Computer, French and Art ‘n’ Craft were set up in the school premises by the students where they displayed various subject related models and games. Not only had they displayed the Study Material but also took initiative to educate the educators and parents as well who had visited school to attend the Open House Meeting. For the visitors it was no less than a ride to the galaxy of the idea and innovation of the students. The way the students were sharing their viewpoints regarding particular subject, had impressed one and all. Parents were captivated by the pool of knowledge students had related to their subject. Students’ media team as the Doon YJs ( Young Journos) stole the show. At Subject Stalls students’ enthusiasm swayed away all. The programme in itself was a tribute to the Altruistic and segacious educators of school whose tremendous efforts were evident through the subject culmination programme. Building on the achievements of the year gone by and striving for new heights in the new session, is Doon’s resolution.
